Michigan’s tech startup and venture capital ecosystems continue to grow at a rapid pace but the talent within this community is disproportionate to the diversity found across the state. In order to help strengthen our local, diverse talent pipelines, Michigan Founders Fund launched a DEI-focused internship program for college students underrepresented in the tech industry, the MFF Internship Program. Now in its third year, 14 college students from across the state are working at 9 Michigan startups through the summer and participating in professional development, mentorship, and network expansion opportunities to grow the pipeline of diverse talent into the ecosystem.
We’re also collaborating with the Michigan Venture Capital Association Internship Program to celebrate rising talent in Michigan VCs. The MVCA Internship Program offers underrepresented students an inclusive and meaningful opportunity for exposure to Michigan’s venture capital firms, equipping them to pursue a career as an investor or entrepreneur.
